Reihou (零鵬, Reihō) is a fictional character from the Baki Dou manga series. He is the current yokozuna (grand champion) of sumo wrestling. He is one of the rikishi chosen to fight in the Underground Arena.

His real name is Shin Tanuma (田沼 浸, Tanuma Shin).

Personality[]

He displays high pride in his skill as a sumo wrestler and laughs off Nomi no Sukune when he is told he does little shiko.

Appearance[]

Reihou is a tall, highly bulky muscular man with jet black hair that is slicked back into a ponytail. He wore a white mawashi in his match with Kaosu Iwanami.

History[]

Baki Dou[]

He is brought to the Underground Arena along with the other rikishi to represent grand sumo. He faces Kaosu Iwanami and easily defeats the Mixed Martial Artist.

He squares off against Nomi no Sukune the 2nd, but proves to be no match for his immense strength. After both fighters perform their shiko, Sukune mentions he sparred against the "imaginary Reihou" and shares that his shiko is lacking, which the yokozuna finds humorous. As the fight begins Reihou lands a harite square onto Sukune's ear, instantly rupturing the ancient sumo practitioner's eardrum, followed by kachiage and morozashi. To Reihou's surprise he is barely affected by the onslaught and calmly responds, "You busted my eardrum. For that, I've gotta to pay you one back". Right then, Sukune effortlessly latches onto Reihou's rib cage with his bare hands and crushes the yokozuna's ribs, slamming him into the ground with an abaranage. Reihou attempts to slowly get back up, but Sukune quickly grabs the helpless rikishi's shoulder blade and slams him down once more to win the match.

After the matches a disguised Reihou finds Sukune to have a rematch with him, they go under the bridge and prepare to fight. Despite being injured Reihou disregards his injuries, Sukune says that he acknowledges him but Reihou mentions when Sukune said he didn't do enough shiko. Sukune looks at Reihou smugly, and Reihou proceeds to charge at Sukune, landing a heavy punch on him, he punches Sukune again and kicks him in the leg and goes for a harite, however Sukune dodges it and flips over. Sukune then kicks Reihou in the chest causing him to throw up blood and kneel over, Sukune then walks away.

Abilities []

As a yokozuna, Reihou is hinted to be very strong and skilled. He is one of the few sumo wrestlers capable enough to defeat Kyogei in a match.

At the age of 14 he already had an extremely muscular build standing at 179 cm and weighing 97 kg. Reihou effortlessly outclassed all of his classmates by a longshot; one of his many feats of strength includes being able to run 100 meters barefoot in just 10.3 seconds. He could easily jump over a whole sand pit that was measured to be over 8 meters, and could casually throw a softball over a distance of 100 meters. Reihou's extreme physical power and outstanding feats of strength caught the attention of Shouhei Arashikawa, who soon after made the decision to turn Reihou into a rikishi, changing sumo history in the process.
