Shikiri Stance (仕切の構え, Shikiri no Kamae), also known as Tachiai Stance (立ち合いの構え, Tachiai no Kamae), is a fighting technique.
Descripton[]
The Shikiri Stance is a preparation stance before an attack of sumo wrestler. Usually after a while there is a quick rush towards the enemy. This position always heralds an oncoming attack. Also, during that stance the wrestler tries to gain a psychological advantage by intense staring at his opponent.
For the first time, Kinryuuzan performed that stance during his battle with Izou Motobe and later, he used it again in his fight against Kanji Igari in the first manga series. What's more, Igari also used this stance during their battle. In the fifth manga series, Nomi no Sukune the 2nd used this stance during his fight against Biscuit Oliva. Later, Kyogei also used the Shikiri Stance against Gouki Shibukawa. In the same manga series, Honoo used this stance against Baki Hanma.
